THE
ELOPEMENT
When we started thinking about what we wanted our wedding to look like, it didn't take us long to realize a traditional wedding wasn't the route we wanted to take. There's nothing wrong with a big white wedding and all the extra events that come with it but we wanted something more intimate and focused on the commitment we're making.
And if we're going to spend money to celebrate our marriage, we would rather go on a once in a lifetime trip. :-)
It's obviously not the traditional idea of an elopement because it's not a secret and it's not a spur of the moment decision. We are planning well in advance for an intentional celebration of our commitment to each other, in a way that feels like us.

We hope that our family and friends understand that our decision has nothing to do with who we want with us on our day, we're just taking a step back from the expectations of a wedding. This is the same reason we didn't have an engagement party, and won't be having any showers or bachelor or bachelorette celebrations.
We chose Italy as our destination because it will be Mason's first international trip and we wanted to go somewhere that at least one of us had been before so we would know what to expect. And of course because Italy is so beautiful!
On June 2nd, 2022, we will have an intimate church ceremony at the church where Josie grew up in Houston, with only our parents, siblings, and grandparents in attendance. We are having a church ceremony before Italy for many reasons; the faith/religious component of marriage is the most important to us, it would have been difficult to do the legal ceremony in Italy, and this way all of our immediate family could be there for our 'real' wedding.
We will be exchanging vows at an Agriturismo (a hotel and restaurant on a farmhouse property) in Tuscany, close to Volterra, on June 6th, 2022. Josie's dad will officiate this ceremony.

We spent a lot of time on this website so that our loved ones can feel more connected, and invested in our photographer and videographer so that we have a way to share the experience with our family and friends. At the bottom of this page you can enter your email address and when we receive our photos and video from our day in Italy, we will share them with you.
Thank you so much for your love and support! Mason and I are so excited for our future together.
